The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) is quickly becoming a top destination for Indian businesses looking to expand internationally. Over the past twelve months, more than 260 new Indian companies have joined DMCC’s international free zone, bringing the total number of Indian firms registered there to nearly 4,000.
The announcement came during DMCC’s promotional tour in India, where two major business forums were held in Mumbai and Hyderabad. The center reported a notable 7% annual growth in Indian company registrations, with Indian firms now accounting for around 16% of the total businesses operating within DMCC’s free zone.
This surge reflects the strengthening trade ties between the UAE and India, with bilateral trade reaching an impressive $85 billion in 2024. DMCC emphasized how the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed between the two nations in 2022, has opened new doors for investment and collaboration across a range of sectors — from infrastructure and technology to services and food security.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, spoke about this new era of cooperation during the events. He highlighted how the recent historic visit of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, to India marked a pivotal moment in UAE-India relations.
“Our partnership with India is entering an exciting new phase,” Bin Sulayem said. “With growing trade volumes and strategic cooperation, we are set to see rapid expansion across key industries, paving the way for a new model of regional collaboration.”
DMCC’s strong value proposition — from its advanced infrastructure to its robust support for businesses continues to attract Indian entrepreneurs looking for a springboard into global markets. The center’s ability to align with India’s economic strengths, from physical commodities to high-value services and advanced technology, makes it a preferred hub for Indian companies seeking international growth.
The momentum was clear at the two business forums, which brought together leading business figures, government officials, and industry experts to discuss the growing opportunities at DMCC. Dubai’s position as a global gateway for Indian companies has never been stronger and it’s only just getting started.
