The American University in Cairo (AUC) recently honored His Excellency Mohammed Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs, with the Global Honorary Fellowship during a special visit to its campus. This accolade, the university’s highest, recognizes exceptional individuals for their significant contributions to international leadership, global relations, and initiatives addressing pressing global challenges.
In presenting the fellowship, AUC President Dr. Ahmed Dallal commended Al Gergawi’s distinguished career, stating, “Throughout his remarkable career, His Excellency has exemplified true 21st-century leadership through his pioneering work in government innovation and public policy.”
During his visit, Al Gergawi toured key campus facilities, including various schools, libraries, and the Center for Applied Research on Environment and Sustainability. This visit marked a significant step in strengthening ties between AUC and regional leaders, paving the way for innovative partnerships in higher education.
Expressing his gratitude, Al Gergawi remarked, “The American University in Cairo stands as one of the region’s foremost beacons of knowledge and thought, serving as a model for future universities that encompass the finest academic and intellectual expertise.” He added, “This honor serves as tangible recognition and motivation for the new generations of leaders in the region to exert more effort and dedication.”
Beyond his ministerial role, Al Gergawi holds several key positions, including Vice Chairman of the Ministerial Development Council, Chairman of The Executive Office of Dubai, Chairman of the World Government Summit, and Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation. He also serves as Secretary-General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and Chairman of the Museum of the Future.
This recognition underscores AUC’s commitment to honoring leaders who drive innovation and address global challenges, reinforcing its role as a leading institution in the region.
