Dubai Launches New 1.2km Bridge to Ease Traffic Between Deira and Bur Dubai

Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project,

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a new 1.2-kilometre bridge connecting Deira and Bur Dubai. The newly inaugurated bridge is a vital element of the Dh5.3 billion Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which aims to transform mobility across the city.

The bridge spans 1,210 metres and features three lanes capable of handling up to 4,800 vehicles per hour. It links the Infinity Bridge and Al Mina Street to the intersection at Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, providing smoother, faster travel for commuters navigating one of the city’s historically congested corridors.

This milestone marks progress in Phase 4 of the Al Shindagha Corridor project, which includes five bridges totaling 2.5km. When completed, these structures are expected to accommodate around 15,000 vehicles per hour collectively.

The Al Shindagha Corridor initiative, which stretches over 13km, is among the largest road infrastructure projects underway in Dubai. Once fully operational, it is expected to slash travel times significantly—by up to 45% in some sections—while boosting connectivity between key residential, commercial, and heritage districts.

By prioritizing long-term investments in transport infrastructure, Dubai continues its trajectory toward becoming one of the most efficient, modern cities in the world—where seamless mobility supports economic growth and improves everyday life for residents and visitors alike.
