Dubai Partners with Microsoft for Dh2 Billion Hyperscale Data Centre

Dubai has taken a major leap toward its digital future with the announcement of a new Dh2 billion hyperscale data centre, a collaborative project between Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du) and global tech giant Microsoft. The announcement was made during Dubai AI Week at the iconic Museum of the Future, with Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, in attendance.

The hyperscale data centre will be developed in phases and is expected to serve as a cornerstone for the region’s growing demand for cloud services, data management, and AI-driven technologies. Microsoft will act as the primary tenant, signaling a strong international commitment to supporting the UAE’s digital economy.

This move reflects Dubai’s strategic vision to become a global hub for digital innovation and artificial intelligence. The data centre will offer high-capacity computing power and advanced cloud infrastructure, empowering businesses across various sectors including finance, e-commerce, and telecommunications.

Speaking at the event, leaders emphasized the role of data in shaping the future. Sheikh Hamdan noted that data is “the wealth of the future,” underlining Dubai’s dedication to investing in next-generation technologies that benefit both communities and businesses.

This initiative also aligns with Dubai’s broader plans under its Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, aiming to create a dynamic ecosystem that encourages innovation, economic growth, and technological excellence. As the project progresses, it is set to generate new opportunities in research, employment, and global tech partnerships—further cementing Dubai’s position at the forefront of digital transformation in the region.
