Dubai Hills Mall is great tons of shops, amazing food, and a super chill vibe. But if you’re in the area and want to do more than just shop, you’re in luck. There are some seriously cool places just a short drive away, whether you’re into adventure, nature, or culture.
I’ve explored quite a few of them, and trust me, they’re worth checking out. Here are some of my personal favorites!
- IMG Worlds of Adventure – Where Your Inner Kid Comes Alive
Okay, if you love theme parks, IMG Worlds of Adventure is a no-brainer. It’s this massive indoor amusement park packed with rides inspired by Marvel superheroes, Cartoon Network characters, and—randomly but awesomely—dinosaurs.
I remember hopping on the Velociraptor roller coaster, thinking it would be a chill ride. Nope. It launches you from 0 to crazy-fast in seconds, and before you even realize what’s happening, you’re outside flying through the desert air. If you love roller coasters, this one’s a must.
Even if you’re not into big thrills, there’s plenty to do—cool 3D experiences, live shows, and fun rides that won’t make your stomach flip. Perfect if you’re with family or friends who have different adventure levels.
- Dubai Safari Park – Because Who Doesn’t Love a Good Safari?
If you’ve ever wanted to get up close with lions, elephants, and giraffes—without flying to Africa—Dubai Safari Park is the next best thing.
I went on the safari drive-through, and it was actually surreal. Seeing a lion just casually chilling a few meters away? Unreal. There’s also an elephant encounter, where you can learn about conservation efforts and get closer to these gentle giants.
The whole park is divided into different zones—African, Asian, and Arabian—so you get to see a variety of animals in environments that mimic their natural habitats. It’s a pretty cool way to spend a few hours, especially if you’re an animal lover.
- The Green Planet – Dubai’s Own Tropical Jungle
The Green Planet is an indoor biodome filled with over 3,000 plants and animals, and walking inside feels like stepping into another world. Birds fly overhead, monkeys swing from tree to tree, and if you’re lucky, you might spot a slow-moving sloth hanging out in the branches.
It’s not just about looking, either. You can book an experience to actually interact with some of the animals—like hand-feeding tropical birds or even getting close to a snake (if you’re brave). Super fun, super unique, and a great spot to visit if you want something different from the usual Dubai attractions.
- Dubai Frame – The City’s Coolest Viewpoint
If you’re into stunning city views, you’ll love Dubai Frame. It’s basically a giant golden picture frame (seriously, it’s HUGE), and when you take the elevator to the top, you get an insane panoramic view of the entire city.
The coolest part? The glass-floored walkway at the top. Standing on it feels like you’re walking on air, looking straight down at the ground below. Slightly terrifying, but totally worth it.
The inside also has a mini-museum showing how Dubai transformed from a desert town to the ultra-modern city it is today. If you love photography or just want a great spot to soak in the skyline, this one’s for you.
- Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary – A Hidden Gem for Nature Lovers
Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is a peaceful escape just a short drive away. It’s a wetland reserve, which might not sound super exciting—until you see the flamingos.
I went early in the morning when the sun was rising, and the sight of hundreds of pink flamingos standing in the water was absolutely magical. There are special viewing platforms where you can watch them up close, and because it’s a protected area, everything feels untouched and natural.
If you love birdwatching or just want to experience a quieter side of Dubai, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
- Motiongate Dubai – A Hollywood-Themed Wonderland
Ever wanted to step into your favorite movies? Motiongate Dubai makes it happen. It’s basically Dubai’s version of Universal Studios, with rides and attractions based on movies like The Hunger Games, Shrek, Madagascar, and Ghostbusters.
One of my favorites? The Madagascar Mad Pursuit roller coaster—way more intense than it looks! But if roller coasters aren’t your thing, there are plenty of cool 4D shows, live performances, and fun interactive experiences for all ages.
It’s one of those places where you can easily spend a whole day just getting lost in the magic of the movies.
Dubai Hills Mall is an awesome spot, but if you’ve got some extra time, these nearby attractions are SO worth the short trip. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, a nature lover, or just someone who wants to see a different side of Dubai, there’s something for everyone.
So next time you’re in the area, take a little adventure beyond the mall—you might just discover your new favorite spot!
