The number of new trademarks registered in the United Arab Emirates increased to 11,700 during the first five months of 2026, reflecting continued economic activity and the expansion of companies seeking to strengthen their presence in the local market.
According to the trademark registration bulletin issued by the Ministry of Economy, May recorded 1,800 new trademarks across several economic sectors that contribute to supporting market activity and meeting demand for goods and services in the country.
Trademark registration reached its highest levels in January and April, with around 2,700 trademarks registered in each month. March recorded 2,500 trademarks, while February saw the registration of 2,000 trademarks.
The first five months of the year showed clear diversity in the nature of the new trademarks. Industrial companies, particularly those operating in the food industries, were among the leading sectors, alongside trademarks related to trade and shopping. The registrations also covered key consumer sectors, including cars, maintenance services, clothing, gold and cosmetics.
Trademark activity also extended to the restaurant sector, as well as the financial sector, banks, insurance activities and investment services. In addition, the list included companies working in technology, electronics, innovation and smart services.
The newly registered trademarks also included brands linked to real estate development companies and the construction sector, along with other service sectors such as tourism, education, hotels and arts. This reflects the wide range of activities currently taking place across the UAE market.
The new trademarks attracted foreign companies as well as major national companies. They also included businesses operating in free zones across the country. The registered trademarks showed diversity in the nationalities of companies, including Gulf and foreign firms, some with long experience in the market and others newly established and working to build a stronger commercial presence.
This performance indicates that trademark registration continues to play an important role in supporting the business environment. It allows companies to protect their commercial identity, strengthen their competitiveness and expand consumer choices across different sectors.
According to data for the first five months of 2026, the new trademarks were distributed as follows: 2,700 trademarks in January, 2,000 in February, 2,500 in March, 2,700 in April and 1,800 in May.
