Launch of DEWA Global as an Independent Company Wholly Owned by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, announced the launch of “DEWA Global” as an independent company wholly owned by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. The new company will focus on developing energy and water infrastructure projects across international markets.

DEWA Global will develop conventional and clean energy projects, along with water projects, drawing on Dubai’s extensive experience in these sectors and the operational expertise of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority in generation, transmission, distribution, and customer service.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “Thanks to the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Dubai has become a global model for achievement and accelerating development. It has reinforced its position through advanced infrastructure, particularly in the energy and water sectors, which rank among the best in the world. The launch of ‘DEWA Global’ is a strategic step to bring this successful model to international markets and strengthen Dubai’s position as a source of knowledge and expertise in energy, water, sustainability, and digital transformation.”

During the company’s launch ceremony, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: “At the heart of its operations, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority represents the inspiring success story of Dubai. Thanks to the vision and directives of my master, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, Dubai has transformed into a global capital for the economy, trade, and innovation, and has become a leading model for sustainable development and investment attraction.

Over the decades, the Authority has contributed to Dubai’s exceptional journey, not only through ambition, but through outstanding performance. Today, it ranks first globally in 13 key utility performance indicators, in addition to two regional indicators, covering generation, transmission, distribution, customer service, and network efficiency and reliability. Our financial strength gives us real strategic freedom, reflected in sustainable revenue growth, strong profit margins, and high investment capacity. In 2025, the Authority recorded unprecedented revenues of AED 32.8 billion and a record net profit after tax of AED 9.06 billion.”

His Excellency Al Tayer noted that the scope of DEWA Global’s operations will cover both the energy and water sectors. The company will develop conventional and clean energy projects using the latest and best technologies, while working with leading organizations to implement joint projects around the world.

He also explained that Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has already begun identifying investment opportunities, building a project portfolio, and establishing a network of strategic partnerships that will support the company’s international expansion and strengthen its global presence.

The launch of DEWA Global marks a new phase in Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s efforts to expand beyond the local market and leverage its operational and financial expertise in developing energy and water projects worldwide.
