Dubai is pushing forward with its bold plan to take local businesses global. Since launching its “New Horizons for Global Expansion” initiative in early 2023, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has successfully led trade missions to 20 countries around the world — with a strong focus on key markets across Asia and Africa.
The initiative is part of the emirate’s wider strategy to enhance its global competitiveness and align with the goals of Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai Global program, both of which aim to position the city as a hub for international business by opening doors in 30 priority global markets.
Speaking during a recent mission to Georgia on October 20–21, Salem Al Shamsi, Deputy CEO of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, explained the importance of these missions.
“Dubai offers a unique environment for international growth,” he said. “With our strong global connectivity and business-friendly ecosystem, companies here are well-positioned to expand their presence around the world.”
Strengthening Ties with Georgia
The trade mission to Georgia saw more than 15 Dubai-based companies participating from diverse sectors, including food and agriculture, technology, manufacturing, and others. A large number of one-on-one meetings were held between UAE and Georgian companies to explore potential partnerships and future collaboration.
According to Al Shamsi, non-oil trade between Dubai and Georgia reached $761 million by the end of 2024, a jump of over 58% compared to the previous year — a clear sign of growing economic ties between the two markets.
He also revealed that as of June 2025, 114 Georgian companies are registered members of the Dubai Chamber, including 16 new businesses that joined during the first half of this year.
Spotlighting New Opportunities
Georgia, with its strategic location between Europe and Asia, open economy, and business-friendly policies, is emerging as an attractive destination for UAE investors and companies. Al Shamsi pointed to strong opportunities in sectors like logistics, real estate, tourism, and food and beverage.
He emphasized Dubai’s advanced logistics network and strategic geographic position, noting that it makes the emirate a perfect launchpad for Georgian products to reach fast-growing markets across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
“Our business community is eager to explore the many opportunities that Georgia offers,” he added. “These missions are about building long-term partnerships that benefit both sides.”
Looking Ahead
As Dubai continues to expand its global footprint, the Chamber’s trade missions will remain a vital tool in supporting local companies as they venture into new markets.
By connecting with high-potential regions and fostering international business relationships, Dubai is not only supporting its private sector — it’s shaping a future where its companies compete and thrive on the global stage.
