UAE financial markets closed August 2026 with positive performance, as the Dubai Financial Market index rose by 0.69%, while the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange index advanced by 0.94%, helping local stocks add around AED 36.98 billion to their total market value during the month.
The gains were supported by positive movements in several blue-chip stocks, alongside advances in key sectors across both markets and continued liquidity flowing into local equities.
Market Capitalization Approaches AED 3.9 Trillion
The combined market capitalization of stocks listed on the Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange increased from around AED 3.849 trillion at the end of July to approximately AED 3.886 trillion by the close of the final trading session in August 2026.
The total was distributed between roughly AED 2.913 trillion for stocks listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and around AED 973.14 billion for companies listed on the Dubai Financial Market.
This allowed UAE markets to further strengthen their market value during August, supported by positive index performance and gains across several heavyweight sectors.
AED 38.53 Billion in Liquidity Across UAE Markets
UAE stocks attracted more than AED 38.53 billion in liquidity during August trading, with approximately AED 23.92 billion recorded on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and around AED 14.61 billion on the Dubai Financial Market.
Around 10.57 billion shares were traded across the two markets during the month through more than 765,000 transactions, reflecting continued active trading.
Dubai Market Ends August at 5,836 Points
The Dubai Financial Market index closed August up 0.69%, equivalent to around 40.07 points, ending the month at 5,836 points.
The index was supported by gains across five sectors, led by banking and industrial stocks, in addition to positive performance from several other sectors during the month.
The banking sector rose by 2.67%, while the industrial sector gained around 2.06%. The basic materials sector recorded a stronger increase of 10.87%.
The consumer discretionary sector also advanced by 9.93%, while the consumer staples sector rose by 2.13%.
Dubai Stocks Add AED 12.77 Billion in Market Value
The market capitalization of stocks listed on the Dubai Financial Market increased from around AED 960.37 billion at the end of July to approximately AED 973.14 billion by the end of August.
As a result, Dubai-listed stocks added around AED 12.77 billion in market value during the month.
During August, UAE national investors in the Dubai market were net buyers, with net investment exceeding AED 785 million. Their purchases amounted to around AED 6.83 billion, compared with sales of approximately AED 6.05 billion.
Dubai-listed stocks attracted more than AED 14.61 billion in liquidity, with around 4.1 billion shares traded through approximately 295,280 transactions.
Abu Dhabi Market Advances to 10,453 Points
On the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, the general index, FADGI, rose by 0.94% during August, equivalent to around 92.82 points.
The index ended the month at 10,453.88 points, maintaining its positive momentum amid active trading and gains in a number of listed stocks.
The market capitalization of the Abu Dhabi market also increased from around AED 2.889 trillion at the end of July to approximately AED 2.913 trillion by the end of the final August session.
This means Abu Dhabi-listed stocks added around AED 24.22 billion in market value during the month.
Strong Trading Activity on the Abu Dhabi Market
Stocks listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange attracted more than AED 23.92 billion in liquidity during August, with approximately 6.46 billion shares changing hands.
The market also recorded around 470,110 transactions during the month, accounting for the larger share of total liquidity traded across the UAE’s two main financial markets.
Positive Performance Strengthens Momentum in Local Markets
August’s results reflect continued positive momentum across UAE financial markets, with clear gains in market capitalization, advances in both the Dubai and Abu Dhabi indexes, and healthy levels of liquidity and trading activity.
The strength of several key sectors, particularly banking and industry, also helped support market performance, while local equities continued to increase their overall market value to nearly AED 3.9 trillion.
August’s figures highlight the ongoing momentum in both markets, with around AED 38.53 billion in liquidity and more than 10.57 billion shares traded through over 765,000 transactions, reflecting continued investor interest in UAE equities.
