Hamdan bin Mohammed Authorizes Launch of MBZ-SAT

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and President of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), has officially given the green light for the launch of MBZ-SAT in October 2024.

Briefing on MBZ-SAT

During a recent visit to MBRSC headquarters, Sheikh Hamdan received updates on MBZ-SAT, the UAE’s most advanced satellite. Accompanied by Talal Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Vice President of MBRSC, he learned about the satellite’s development, capabilities, and deployment plan.

Sheikh Hamdan’s Confidence

Expressing confidence in MBRSC’s capabilities, Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the significance of projects like MBZ-SAT in enhancing the UAE’s global influence in space technology. He highlighted the transformative era in space exploration and the UAE’s commitment to advancing its space sector.

Interactive Visit

Sheikh Hamdan visited the clean room where MBZ-SAT is housed, signing off on a plaque bearing the satellite’s logo. He engaged with the development team, gaining insights into the technical aspects and objectives of MBZ-SAT.

Next Phase: Environmental Testing

Following development, MBZ-SAT will undergo environmental testing to ensure its resilience in space conditions. Successful testing will pave the way for final launch preparations.

Operational Phase

Post-launch, MBZ-SAT will be operated from the MBRSC Mission Control Centre, significantly enhancing the Centre’s capabilities.
