Dubai’s Strategic Partnership with Hamburg’s AI Center Enhances Global Innovation

Dubai Future Foundation collaborates with Hamburg's AI Center

In a strategic move to bolster its position as a global leader in technological innovation, the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has entered into a partnership with Germany’s Hamburg Artificial Intelligence Center (ARIC).

This collaboration aims to encourage leading European AI companies and innovators to test and develop their technologies within the dynamic and supportive environment of Dubai’s regulatory sandbox, known as “Sandbox Dubai.”

“Sandbox Dubai” serves as a central platform designed to study and enhance Dubai’s legislative and regulatory frameworks, ensuring they are future-ready. By collaborating with various governmental and private entities, this initiative supports and keeps pace with rapid changes in work systems and the adoption of modern technological innovations. The partnership with ARIC marks the first global collaboration for “Sandbox Dubai,” reflecting Dubai’s commitment to embracing international expertise and fostering a culture of innovation.

Abdulaziz Al Jaziri, Deputy CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, highlighted the significance of this partnership: “Through our collaboration with the Hamburg Artificial Intelligence Center, we aim to introduce global markets to the ‘Sandbox Dubai’ initiative, activate international cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence by supporting talents and creative thinkers, and encourage companies to develop new products and services in Dubai.

This reinforces its position as a global platform and preferred destination for companies and talents to develop technologies that shape the future.”

Echoing this sentiment, Alois Krtil, CEO of ARIC, stated: “This partnership will open new horizons for global collaborations between companies and institutions and accelerate the development of advanced technologies in the markets. It will provide a platform for innovators, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers in both countries to exchange knowledge and experiences on applications of artificial intelligence technologies within organized experimental environments. It will also enhance cooperation within the innovation ecosystem, knowledge and technology transfer projects, and the exchange of best practices through joint learning initiatives. This, in turn, will strengthen the ties between two of the world’s most important innovation centers.”

This partnership aligns with Dubai’s broader economic agenda, particularly the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to position the city as a global hub for innovation, sustainability, and economic diversification. By attracting top-tier AI talent and companies from Europe to its shores, Dubai continues to solidify its reputation as a forward-thinking city committed to technological advancement and global collaboration.
