Dubai to Add More EV Charging Stations in Residential Areas

Dubai EV Charging

Dubai’s authorities, led by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Parkin, are working together to install new EV charging stations in residential parking areas. These stations will be placed in key locations, particularly in Zones A and C, where demand is highest.
What This Means for EV Owners

For EV drivers, this expansion brings several benefits:

  • More charging spots – No more driving around searching for an available station.
  • Convenient locations – Charging stations will be installed in parking areas close to residential buildings.
  • Easy payment system – Drivers can pay for both charging and parking through Parkin’s app, simplifying the process.
  • More sustainable travel options – With better infrastructure, more residents may be encouraged to switch to EVs

Dubai’s Growing EV Network

Dubai has been rapidly expanding its EV charging network as part of its clean energy initiatives. At the moment, DEWA operates about 740 charging points across the city, and this number is set to reach 1,000 by the end of 2025.

Why This Matters

Dubai has ambitious sustainability goals, and making EV ownership more practical is a big part of that vision. By improving access to charging stations in high-density residential areas, the city is ensuring that EVs become a more viable option for people who don’t have private garages.

For many residents who have been considering an electric vehicle but were unsure about charging accessibility, this move could be the push they need to make the switch. With more charging stations on the way, Dubai is making it clear: the future of transportation is electric.
