Dubai is continuing to build on its reputation as one of the world’s most attractive travel destinations, with plans to add around 9,300 new hotel rooms between 2026 and 2028. This steady expansion reflects not just rising visitor demand, but also the city’s ongoing commitment to growing its tourism economy in a sustainable way.
In 2026 alone, about 4,600 new rooms are expected to come onto the market—noticeably higher than last year’s figures—with around 21 new hotels opening their doors. The pace doesn’t slow down much after that, with an additional 2,900 rooms planned for 2027 and 1,800 more in 2028.
More Rooms, More Opportunities
Beyond the numbers, this growth means real opportunities for people. In the hospitality industry, every new hotel room typically brings new jobs with it. Luxury hotels in particular tend to require larger teams to maintain high service standards.
Because many of Dubai’s upcoming hotels fall into the upscale and luxury categories, it’s estimated that between 12,000 and 13,900 new jobs could be created over the next three years. For many professionals, this opens the door to new careers and growth within a dynamic sector.
A Clear Focus on Luxury
Dubai’s preference for high-end hospitality is nothing new—and it’s not changing anytime soon. By the end of 2025, the city had around 158,700 hotel rooms across 770 properties, with nearly 70 percent in the upscale and luxury segments.
What’s interesting is that most of the upcoming hotels are expected to follow the same direction. This consistent focus helps Dubai maintain its image as a destination known for comfort, quality, and standout experiences.
Strong Performance Builds Confidence
The latest figures show that Dubai’s tourism sector remains in great shape. In 2025, the city welcomed around 19.6 million visitors from across the globe, with strong demand coming from Europe, the GCC, and several emerging markets.
Hotels also performed well, with average occupancy rates reaching 81 percent. In some categories, the numbers were even higher. At the same time, room rates increased, which usually signals healthy demand and a positive outlook for the sector.
A Long-Term Vision in Action
All of this growth is part of a bigger picture. Dubai is working toward becoming one of the top three global destinations for both business and leisure travel by 2033. To get there, the city is investing in marketing campaigns, expanding partnerships with airlines, and hosting a wide range of events—from cultural festivals to major international conferences.
New hotel concepts and luxury resorts are also adding fresh experiences for visitors, giving people even more reasons to choose Dubai.
