Hussain Sajwani, the founder and chairman of Damac Properties, is a prominent figure in luxury real estate, recognized for his transformative developments in Dubai and beyond. Damac Properties has delivered thousands of high-end residences across major cities globally, establishing itself as a leader in the luxury sector.
Sajwani’s career spans over four decades, starting in the finance department at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company before he ventured into the catering industry, where his company, now called Global Logistics, served clients like the U.S. Army. In 2002, Sajwani shifted focus to real estate with the founding of Damac Properties, which has since become one of the Middle East’s largest real estate development companies, delivering approximately 27,400 homes and managing over 35,000 units in various stages of development.
Expanding Damac’s portfolio, the company launched “Damac Maison” hotels and resorts, marking its entry into the hospitality industry. Damac went public in 2015, listing on the Dubai Financial Market. Among its most notable projects is a Tiger Woods-designed golf course managed by the Trump Organization, alongside collaborations with Italian fashion houses such as Versace, Fendi, and Roberto Cavalli, which have brought luxury interior design to its properties. Damac has also partnered with Paramount Hotels and Resorts for branded developments.
In 2019, Sajwani’s private investment firm acquired the Roberto Cavalli fashion group, and he invested £600 million in London for the Damac London Tower, branded as “Versace in Nine Elms.” After stepping down as chairman of Damac Properties in June 2021, Sajwani continued to pursue ambitious projects, including the planned Cavalli Residences on a $120 million site in Miami’s Surfside area. In 2022, he expanded his luxury holdings by acquiring the jewelry brand De Grisogono and announcing new real estate developments in Dubai.
