DP World to Invest AED 25.7 Billion in Nigeria Port Project

DP World has signed memoranda of understanding for the development of the Gateway deep-sea port and a special economic zone in Ogun State, Nigeria.

The initial investment in the project is valued at AED 25.7 billion, equivalent to $7 billion.

The development will bring together a deep-sea port, a large economic zone and multimodal infrastructure, creating an integrated system intended to support trade, manufacturing, exports and logistics in the state.

Deep-Sea Port With a 4-Kilometer Quay

Plans for the project include a port with a quay stretching four kilometers and a draft of up to 18 meters.

The port will form part of a wider development linking maritime infrastructure with the planned economic zone and multimodal transport facilities.

Economic Zone to Support Manufacturing and Exports

Alongside the port, the project will include a special economic zone covering about 10,000 hectares.

The area will be allocated to factories, warehouses, processing facilities and export-oriented companies.

By bringing the port and the economic zone together with multimodal infrastructure, the project is designed to support manufacturing, export activity and logistics operations in Ogun State.

Around 50,000 Jobs Expected

The development is expected to create about 50,000 jobs.

It is also expected to support manufacturing, exports and logistics in the state as the port, economic zone and supporting infrastructure are developed as part of one integrated system.

DP World Expands Its Integrated Logistics Networks

The project is part of DP World’s expansion in developing integrated systems that combine ports, economic zones and logistics services.

The company’s approach is aimed at supporting trade, manufacturing and exports in the markets where it operates.
