DP World Opens 22,000-Square-Meter Consumer Goods Logistics Center in Italy

DP World has opened its first logistics center for fast-moving consumer goods in Italy, expanding its presence in the European market. The new facility covers 22,000 square meters and can accommodate approximately 30,000 pallets, serving businesses in the food and beverage, e-commerce and consumer goods sectors.

Located in Castel San Pietro Terme, near Bologna, the center brings several logistics services together under one roof. It offers temperature-controlled warehousing for multiple customers, along with inventory management, transportation, e-commerce order fulfillment and other value-added services.

The opening is part of DP World’s plans to expand its logistics activities in Italy, one of Europe’s major consumer and industrial markets. Through the new center, the company can manage different stages of the supply chain, from storing products and preparing orders to transportation and distribution, giving businesses access to a wider range of services through a single provider.

Strategic Partnership

The center was established in partnership with Alce Nero, an Italian company specializing in organic food products, which will be the facility’s main customer.

As part of the arrangement, DP World will manage key aspects of Alce Nero’s logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation and e-commerce order fulfillment. This will allow the Italian company to concentrate on developing its products and expanding its business while DP World handles its day-to-day logistics requirements.

The partnership reflects a growing trend among businesses to work with specialized logistics providers for storage and distribution, particularly in industries where inventory management and careful product handling are essential.

Specialized Facilities

Storage areas at the new center are maintained at temperatures between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius, with equipment suited to organic products and integrated technology systems for managing logistics operations.

The facility can serve a range of businesses, including organic food producers, premium brands and companies operating in e-commerce, consumer goods and technology.

With storage capacity for around 30,000 pallets, the center also has room to accommodate additional customers. Its location in Italy provides access to the domestic market and major European transport routes, supporting the movement of goods and the expansion of DP World’s contract logistics services across the region.
