UAE-Made Gold Jewellery Gains Ground, Capturing 30% of the Local Market

Dubai Jewellery Group Chairman Tawhid Abdullah said local gold markets have recently witnessed an increase in the share of UAE-origin gold jewellery, which currently accounts for 30% of the total jewellery traded in the markets.

Abdullah stated that local manufacturing of gold jewellery is growing by around 5% annually. He added that sales of locally manufactured jewellery rose by about 10% during the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, outperforming imported jewellery, particularly 21-carat gold pieces.

The Chairman of Dubai Jewellery Group confirmed that gold jewellery manufactured in the UAE is seeing continuous growth in demand, supported by improved quality and the expansion of design variety compared with previous periods.

He pointed out that gold jewellery manufacturing in the UAE markets is expected to record significant and faster growth rates in the coming years, backed by rising demand and increased investment in the local gold sector.

Abdullah also noted that locally manufactured gold jewellery and gold bars are marketed in the domestic markets, in addition to being exported.

He revealed that local manufacturing volumes have grown recently, reaching around 220 tonnes, compared with previous levels ranging between 150 and 180 tonnes.

For his part, gold trader Abdullah Mohammed Ali said locally manufactured gold jewellery witnessed demand growth during the first quarter of 2026, ranging between 10% and 15%.

He attributed this growth to lower making charges compared with imported jewellery, as well as the wider availability of new styles and designs that meet consumer preferences.

Ali expected the share of locally manufactured jewellery in the markets to rise further over the next two years, amid increasing demand and higher local production activity.
