The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government has demonstrated remarkable progress in enhancing its global stature, emerging as a leader in government development metrics. Particularly notable is the UAE’s top ranking globally on the Absence of Bureaucracy indicator and securing the second position on the Adaptability of Government Policy indicator in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook. Furthermore, in the Global Competitiveness Report issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the UAE Government achieved the third position on the Government Responsiveness to Change indicator and the fourth position on the Government Long-term Vision indicator.

In response to this achievement, His Excellency Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, credited the forward-thinking vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. Al Gergawi also acknowledged the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for empowering the UAE Government to maintain its trajectory of success despite the unprecedented challenges and rapid global changes witnessed over the past year.

Al Gergawi emphasized the UAE’s proactive approach, evident in its seamless transition to cutting-edge technological and digital solutions to ensure continuity of services, along with adeptly pivoting to high-quality remote work and distance learning systems. These measures not only ensured uninterrupted government operations but also facilitated swift adaptation among various segments of society, mitigating the adverse impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, Al Gergawi underscored that the UAE government’s enhanced global standing across various government development indices, as monitored by esteemed global reports, reflects its efficiency, proactivity, and ability to confront future challenges. He highlighted the UAE’s leadership focus on sustainable development, agility, flexibility, and future readiness as pivotal factors in achieving such progress, despite the unprecedented circumstances and challenges posed by the pandemic on governments worldwide.

The UAE government has secured advanced positions on global competitiveness indices, ranking ninth globally in the IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) 2020, and fourth in the 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer. Additionally, it has topped 121 of the most crucial global competitiveness reports and stands as the foremost among Arab countries across 437 indices, while maintaining its prominent position among the top ten countries worldwide across 314 indices.
